About Austin Funk
Owner and guide Austin Funk grew up in Arizona while spending much of his time in Utah, where his passion for fly fishing began on the Weber River near Henefer. Mentored by his grandfather, father, and Uncle Barry, Austin developed a lifelong love for the sport and Utah’s waters.
He continued to refine his skills through guided trips with Joe Mitchell of Stonybrook Fly Fishing before studying under respected guide Eddie Robinson, completing courses in fly fishing strategies, guiding, entomology, fly tying, on-stream tactics, and leader construction. Austin also apprenticed and guided for Robinson’s fly shop and has continued expanding his knowledge through advanced fly tying instruction with Grant Bench (“The Fly Ninja”).
After spending nearly a decade fishing the rivers, lakes, and streams of northeastern Utah, Austin has developed extensive local knowledge and a passion for sharing it with others. His goal is simple—to help anglers of all skill levels catch more fish, improve their techniques, and enjoy everything fly fishing has to offer.
